Personally I believe Babymetal is a passion project for the Kamis as they seem to prioritise if over other projects. Kami Band isn't a band that exists when they're not playing with Babymetal. It seems a lot of Babymetal fans don't realise that the Kamis are hired musicians in the same way that the musicians behind Ariana Grande or Blackpink are hired musicians.

They can work full time with other projects if they had to. The Japanese Kamis don't stand and fall financially with Babymetal. The 2019-2020 tours were tours that I would have said no to without a doubt. I, and a lot of colleagues, always said no thank you for tours longer than a few weeks if it wasn't domestically so we could go home, water our plants, say hi to the girlfriend/wife, pick up the kids from daycare, have a beer with friends or whatever. If you want to maintain a "normal" life outside of music touring full time is impossible. One of the main reasons for that was that it is as close to a 9-5 job you can come as a musician.
